Along the railway track from Arnhem to Ede, there will be a new residential area, the World Food Centre, in which climate-adaptive and nature-inclusive building are key elements. De Veluwse Proeftuin, located in the south-east corner, is made up of four sections, including one with a residential tower that is overgrown with climbing plants. The tower also features a roof garden above the car park with planting that enhances biodiversity. The ground-level houses of the middle two residential blocks will have terraces with pergolas, overgrown with edible plants such as hops and grapes. The space between the houses at the rear is set up as a collective food garden with a communal neighbourhood shed. The gardens will include long picnic tables, allowing people to eat their freshly picked vegetables together. 16 05 2023
