The Sofitel Park is a subtropical park in Cotonou, Benin, which houses the new prestigious Sofitel Hotel and Leisure Centre. It consists of winding paths and organically shaped planting beds. In the design, different park sections were designed; there is an art garden, a central entrance axis, a conference garden and there is an area with swimming pools at the back. In the conference garden, a walkway covered by canopies runs from the hotel to the CIC. The conference garden has four special gardens, each with its own theme. These include a cactus garden, a grass garden, a palm garden and a Strelitzia and Heliconia garden. The designs of the special gardens are inspired by traditional wax designs from the Beninese textile industry. Between the gardens there are informal, sunken meeting areas. In the park, new plant and tree species have been added to the existing ones, increasing biodiversity. Red flowering trees form a recurring element. 16 05 2023
