Odijk is developing a new district of 1,200 dwellings on its western side. The design strings together nine archaeological sites from the Bronze, Roman and Middle Ages by means of a ribbon planted with cherry trees referring to cherry growing in the area. The sites form special places within the cherry ribbon. The resulting string of beads, together with a central connecting linear park and the existing watercourse, forms the foundation of the neighbourhood structure. The village-like Kersenweide is optimally accessible by bicycle. The plan provides a green crossing-free connection to the heart of Odijk and three stations in the immediate vicinity. The structure and access thus provide a good basis for a sustainable climate-adaptive neighbourhood. 10-08-2023
