In collaboration with Moke Architects and Van Wijnen, we won the tender for Idealis student housing. The building stands on Mansholtlaan and on the northern side in the landscape. Various climbing plants grow on cables against the building. A wide selection ensures a rich variety of blooms and (autumn) colours. Nesting boxes and bee stones will be included in the façade for various birds. The building will be a nature-inclusive building. The garden at the back is a natural garden in which food is an important theme. Food for birds, butterflies, among others, food for small mammals such as squirrels and pine marten, and food for students! The planting will be tailored to the different species such as berry bushes( elder, black and red currant, raspberry etc.), nuts, flowering plants and host plants for butterflies. The planting will have a variation in layering. For the students, we will plant as many native fruit and nut trees as possible so that they too can pick an apple and crack a nut now and then. We will also make room for a herb garden or vegetable garden. In consultation with the students, this can be done in the garden after participation, which promotes social cohesion. A garden closet provides space for tools. In the garden, there are places where students can meet in small groups or retreat alone in a green oasis. 28-04-2024
