Bridges university campus Suzhou

The Suzhou university campus on Sangtian island has many waterchannels. A family of bridges is designed. There is a division in normal bridges and bridges part of an artroute in the park. There are 13 normal bridges and 14 special art bridges. The shape of the bridges is based on a traditional Chinese bridge. As the university is a science university, the pattern of the sides of the basic bridges is based on cells which transform from a dense distribution at the beginning to a spread position in the middle of the bridge. The art bridges all have their own identity and the pattern design of the sides are based on masterpieces of important European painters like Matisse, Van Gogh, Giotto, Munch and Monet. Each bridgeside has its own pattern inspired by a masterpiece.
