The Asian Sport Games will be organized in Shenyang in 2013. The arrival of these games is a reason for the city to redevelop both banks of the Hun River. On the south bank in the park, an outdoor sports program is planned for inhabitants of the city. Therefore a number of built facilities are designed: restaurants, a tea house, toilets, dressing rooms, management facilities and boat house. The buildings are located on the flood plain of the river. The restaurants are directly connected with the higher level of the embankment and they stand on poles. All other buildings are located along the park path. The building volumes are constructed from one folded plane. Often the ends are open or closed with glass or a wall of blinds constructed like a recess. At entrances, in places where day light access is desirable and at terraces, the wooden skin is partially intermittent or omitted. The management facilities are combined with public toilet building. These two buildings are placed back to back. The wooden skin of the tea house is unfolded in such a way that an open terrace arises. Chinese restaurants usually consist of a collection of individual dining rooms. That is why one of the restaurants is designed from independent dining houses connected via a central corridor. Each house has its own identity. The kitchen is placed in one of the houses. The other restaurant is composed from individual dining rooms and collective eating areas hidden in one volume. The guests can decide in each room how far to open the outdoor blinds. The buildings are made from wood and glass. The toilet buildings can also be cladded with slates.
