Freek Loos is an architect and urban designer with a background in civil engineering. He worked in the years between 1990 and 2000 at the office of Van Berkel and Bos/ UNStudio. In this period Freek fulfilled a central role in the development of the Erasmusbridge, the Prins Claus bridge, the first fase of Arnhem central station and the redevelopment of the center of Nieuwegein. In 2001 he became, together with Martine van Vliet, director of Bureau B+B. In his period at B+B Freek worked on several urban design projects and the redevelopment of GGZ north and middle Limburg in Venray. Freek also worked on the transformation of the King Willem III and Frank van Bijnen barracks into the training center of the Dutch military police in Apeldoorn. Together with Martine van Vliet, Freek founded Atelier LOOS van VLIET in 2009. Atelier LOOS van Vliet combines the three design disciplines landscape architecture, urban design and architecture. Because of this combination Atelier LOOS van VLIET is able to work on a wide range of projects. The combination of the three design disciplines and relevant issues makes it possible for Atelier LOOS van VLIET to design an integrated plan. This approach to design is also useful in our foreign design projects. Freek has an eye for the big picture in relation to the details.
